Did you ever about what the windshields of your machine does for you without even realizing it. The truth is that, it seems an element that is just there, but the reality is that it plays a fundamental role in the safety and comfort of the worker.
One of the most obvious functions is thermal insulation. Being protected behind glass insulates us from the cold in winter and protects from the heat in summer. Most machines have a specific role on the jobsite. Extend scheduled dates is always costly. Agricultural machinery is also very subject to seasonal work. In most cases, we depend on specific dates to bring in the harvest, plow or carry out the rest of the necessary tasks and it is not convenient to delay the times if we want good results at the end of the season. Therefore, it is important to isolate ourselves as much as possible from external factors that may delay our work. And the windshields are, without a doubt, one of the elements that provides us with greater protection against this and, by extension, the rest of the glass in our cabin.
Related to the previous point, the windshields and windows also offer us acoustic insulation. Driving a machine in a closed space (cabin) allows us to increase our concentration by isolating ourselves from external noise, which is often excessive. Especially for those machines that work in highly noisy places such as construction sites, or demolitions. And of course, isolate ourselves from the noise that the machine that we are driving generates.
Another of the most important functions is that they protect us from external elements such as sand, gravel, stones, dust, metals or other elements that we can find on a construction site or in the field. They also protect us from natural elements such as mosquitoes, boughs and even annoying organic waste from birds.
Windshields also act as sun visors. One of the main functions of windshields is to filter some of the UV rays in order to protect both our eyes and our skin from UV rays.
All the windows that make up our cabin favor the stability and resistance of the cabin. It is very easy to imagine how a cabin without glass becomes extremely fragile.
Last but not least, they greatly increase our safety: they prevent us from falling off the machine if we are correctly positioned inside the cab.
Therefore, although at first glance it looks like a simple glass, there are many functions that windshields fulfill. All of them are carefully designed and adapted to provide us with safety, protection and comfort. It is for this reason that it is so important that we take care of them and try to preserve them in the best possible conditions, always keeping them clean and replacing them immediately when any damage is detected.
